On Thursday, September 19, the first Test between India and Bangladesh kicked off at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. India are in a commanding position as they finished strongly on 81/3 after stumps on day 2 with a lead of 308 runs.

Talking about Rishabh Pant,  who is at the crease alongside Shubman Gill, it is a special match for the southpaw as he made his return to red-ball cricket after a gap of two years. Pant has been phenomenal in this match with the bat.

Rishabh Pant's Impressive Return To Test Cricket

In the first innings, Pant came to bat when India lost three early wickets. However, the southpaw stitched an important partnership with Yashasvi Jaiswal and missed out on a well-deserving fifty. Pant amassed 39 (52), which featured six fours.

Pant also shone with the gloves and took a solitary catch but did not hesitate in diving to his left and right as the fans feared his commitment following the fatal crash. Even, in the second innings, despite India losing three quick wickets, Pant did not drop his aggressive intent and went all guns blazing as he smashed Shakib Al Hasan for a massive six down the ground.

Adam Gilchrist Hails Pant's Fearless Approach

In the latest events, legendary keeper Adam Gilchrist heaped massive praise on Pant and remarked that he is a more aggressive batter than he was during his playing years.

"I reckon he attacks a bit more than I did. I played an aggressive brand at that time, but Rishabh, he looks fearless. What I do like is that he occasionally puts a foot on the brake and absorbs a bit of pressure. So he's a class act,” Gilchrist said on Cricket.com.

It was not all as Gilchrist went on to say that he would even pay to watch Pant bat in Test cricket. He added:

"He is, what you say, bums on seats, and people pay money well and truly. I would happily pay money to watch him play cricket. So that's a great quality to have, I think, if people are acknowledging in that manner because he gets the results, he's a winner and a survivor, as we know. He's all class in everything he does. He's good fun, he's got the humour. He knows how to go about a very serious business in a fun way."

At the time of writing this article, Pant is batting on 45 (75) and nearing a fifty which he missed in the first innings.
