‘World Cup Humara…’ Shaheen’s Brother's Bold Remark After Liking Tweets Against Babar

The Pakistan team, under Babar Azam, squandered away their sublime start to the 2023 World Cup with comprehensive defeats to India and Australia. Following their consecutive setbacks in Ahmedabad and Bengaluru, rumors emerged of a possible rift between the skipper and ace speedster Shaheen Afridi inside the dressing room.

The reports worsened after the ‘Men in Green’ coped a shock eight-wicket larruping at the hands of Afghanistan in their subsequent fixture in Chennai, which eventually drew some scathing criticism from Pakistan’s entire cricketing spectrum. Moreover, at a time when several cricket experts were demanding the removal of Babar Azam’s captaincy to make way for Shaheen as the new leader, the speedster’s brother was caught liking random posts on X (formerly Twitter) made at the expense of Babar.

Shan Afridi clarifies with hopeful World Cup 2023 message

Shan Afridi, brother of Shaheen Afridi, was caught liking posts on X (formerly Twitter) made at the expense of Babar Azam. As one can expect, fans of the Pakistani skipper reacted angrily to Shan’s social media activity, with many alleging that the speedster’s brother was trying to escalate an already tense dressing room atmosphere.

A day after he was caught for his prejudiced social media angle, Shan has now clarified that there is no rift between the two Pakistani veteran cricketers, and claimed that the unity and brotherhood between Babar and Shaheen can still win them the 2023 World Cup.

The Pakistan team, on the other hand, will have to punch above their weight to get back to the top four reckoning. Currently placed at number five on the World Cup 2023 points table, Babar Azam and co. need to win all their remaining fixtures and hope for certain permutations and combinations from other matches to align in their favor.

Pakistan’s subsequent World Cup 2023 challenge includes a date with a marauding South African bunch in Chennai on October 27. They will subsequently face Bangladesh, New Zealand, and defending champions England to conclude their Group Stage proceedings.
