During the Captains' Day event for the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023 in Ahmedabad, Australian captain Pat Cummins shared his insights into the highly anticipated India-Pakistan clash.

Playing his first World Cup as captain, Cummins joined the captains of the other participating teams, including India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, England, South Africa, New Zealand, and Netherlands for the Captains' Day event.

Cummins was present at the Captains' Day event in Ahmedabad along with the captains of the other nine participating teams- India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, England, South Africa, New Zealand and Netherlands.

Ravi Shastri, a former Indian captain and World Cup-winning player, hosted the event alongside 2019 World Cup-winning captain, Eoin Morgan, and asked Cummins about his perspective on Indo-Pak games.

Cummins acknowledged the immense global interest in these matches, emphasizing their unique status in the cricketing world. He expressed that there are few sporting events worldwide that can match the India-Pakistan clash in terms of global viewership.

The Australian quick highlighted the allure of these matches, noting that even if you are not directly involved, you can't help but want to watch and immerse yourself in the passionate commentary surrounding the game.

"There's not too many events around the world where half of the world is tuning in to watch and whenever India plays Pakistan, it seems like one of those moments. Although you are personally not involved but you wanna watch it and hear about all the commentary and passion around the game, it's great it would be in this stadium where we can have more than 100,000 people,"  said Pat Cummins while speaking in the Captains' Day event.

The India-Pakistan rivalry is renowned as one of the most intense and historic rivalries in the world of sports. Its roots are intertwined with the political history of the two nations and have often drawn comparisons to the Ashes Test rivalry between England and Australia.

This heightened anticipation for India vs Pakistan matches is fueled by the fact that the two teams no longer engage in bilateral cricket series due to geopolitical issues. Their last bilateral series occurred in 2012, and in the past decade, their meetings have been limited to ICC and Asian tournaments.

The upcoming clash between India and Pakistan in the World Cup is highly awaited, scheduled for October 14 in Ahmedabad at the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium.

Team India has a rich history of seven victories over Pakistan in ODI World Cup matches, while Pakistan will be eager to secure their first 50-over World Cup win against their arch-rivals.
