World Cup 2023 | 'It Is Just Stupid': Former Pakistan Keeper Mocks PCB Over Request Swap Venues

After much deliberation, the International Cricket Council (ICC) and Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Tuesday announced the schedule of the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, which will take place between October 5 and November 19 in India.

Pakistan, who have made umpteen demands and requests over several issues, will begin their tournament against Qualifier 1 on October 8, and will meet hosts India on October 15 at the Narendra Modi Stadium. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has asked authorities to swap venues for Australia and Afghanistan matches, which for many ex-Pakistan players sounded silly.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, former wicket-keeper batter Kamran Akmal has lashed out at PCB for their antics, and explained that it was stupid on the part of PCB to make such requests, which ICC has control over.

Let ICC handle it: Akmal tips PCB

"Pakistan requested to swap their venues for group matches against Australia and Afghanistan. They were also apparently not willing to face India in Ahmedabad. However, the ICC rejected the request, which was the right thing to do. It is very wrong if PCB had made such a request."

"It is an ICC event, so please let the ICC decide where the matches should take place. If the ICC had agreed to change the venues, the other boards would have also asked for such changes. It is just stupid if such a request was made."

The 41-year-old further stated that such action pulls the reputation of the board down, and that conditions or venues such not matter in modern-day cricket.
