An uphill battle awaits West Indies, who take on visiting India in a two-Test series, which kicks off today in Dominica. Speaking on the eve of the first Test, Windies skipper Kraigg Brathwaite sought consistency from his side from the get-go, which will also be the first WTC 2023-25 cycle encounter for both teams, respectively.

West Indies finished eight in the last WTC 2021-23 cycle, winning just four Tests, while India were the runners-up, having lost to Australia in the WTC Final 2023 last month.

As quoted by ANI, Brathwaite, who has been the West Indies' most dependable batter in the recent times, said that consistency is the key to success in this series.

Here's what Brathwaite said

"We look forward to the challenge. I think we also look forward to the support of the Dominican public. And we had a number of discussions on how we want to go about playing and the key is consistency. We want to be consistent and that is from the first innings right through the whole Test match into the second Test, and for us, we look forward to doing that."

West Indies have included several newcomers like Alick Althanaze, Kirk McKenzie and Raymon Reifer and have recalled Rahkeem Cornwall, who has been terrific in domestic cricket while dropping Roston Chase after a string of poor scores.

The bowling for the home side looks impressive, with Kemar Roach spearheading the attack, followed by Shannon Gabriel, Alzarri Joseph, and Jason Holder.
