The cricket in the ongoing Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) 2023 has been terrific and on par with the international level, however, no tournament is complete without a bizarre fielding miscommunication between players.
During Qualifier 2 between clash between Nellai Royal Kings and Dindigul Dragons, fans and audiences around the world witnessed the former team players recreate the famous 'Saeed Ajmal-Shoaib Malik' fielding gaffe from Pakistan's match against West Indies in 2008.
Ajmal, who went to catch a skier from Chris Gayle, got distracted by Malik, and both players missed the chance as the ball landed between both players to safety.
On Monday, a similar incident happened when Dragons' player Subodh Bhati top-edged the ball. Lakshay Jain ran for the catch, as did the wicket-keeper and the field at short third-man, which ultimately resulted in the ball dropping in between all three players, after a lack of communication.
Dindigul managed 185 runs and the Kings led by brilliant batting from Ajitesh Guruswamy (73*) and Rithik Easwaran (39*) went to achieve their target on the final ball of the match, thus winning the tie by seven wickets.

The Nellai Royal Kings will go up against Lyca Kovai Kings this evening in Tirunelveli in the final of TNPL 2023.
