After a failure in the second ODI against West Indies, wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson made amends in the series decider on Tuesday evening. Samson scored a quickfire 51 off 41, helping India gain much-needed momentum in their innings after losing wickets.

Samson's onslaught ensured India posted a mammoth total of 351 as the Indian bowlers folded West Indies for 151 and handing Hardik Pandya and Co. a 2-1 series win.

Samson showed intent from the get-go hitting spinner Yannic Carriah for a six first-ball, and ended with two fours and four sixes in his knock.

The Rajasthan Royals skipper, who has been in the international circuit since 2015, has played a handful of matches for India - 13 ODIs and 17 T20Is, however, has displayed his talent in limited chances.  Speaking to Jio Cinema post his cameo, Samson explained how challenging it is to be an Indian cricketer, given the competition for a spot without the side.

Here's what Samson said

"Being an Indian cricketer is challenging, I have played domestic cricket for the last 8-9 years and for India, here and there, so it gives you a bit of understanding of playing in different positions. It is the number of overs you get and it is not about batting position so you have to prepare accordingly."

Talking about his innings, the 28-year-old stated how he executed his plans and was happy to contribute to India's win most importantly.

"It feels really great to spend some time in the middle, score some runs and contribute for your country. I had different plans for different players, I wanted to use my feet and dominate the lengths of the bowlers."

Samson further mentioned that conditions in Trinidad were better than in Barbados, which hosted the first two ODIs.

The wicket-keeper will be in action during the T20Is as well for India, which starts August 3.
