Team India ripped West Indies to pieces in the all-important third ODI of their three-match series in Tarouba. Turning up without senior pros Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, interim skipper Hardik Pandya stepped up to take charge in the series decider.

The all-rounder batted well, and led even better as the Indian team under his leadership has now achieved this major statistical landmark in ODI cricket.

India registers record win in West Indies to seal series

The Men in Blue, without captain Sharma and Kohli, registered a 200-run win against West Indies in the series-deciding third ODI. The win now marks the biggest margin of victory in an ODI by any team against West Indies in West Indies.

Hardik Pandya and co. broke the previous record held by Eoin Morgan-led England, when the Englishmen listed a 186-run larruping of hosts West Indies in Bridgetown during their 2017 tour.

In the meantime, West Indies were pinned down for just 151 while chasing a daunting 352-run target against India. Tail-ender Gudakesh Motie provided the only rebellion in the run-chase, at a time when the rest of his side’s batting order crumbled in front of Mukesh Kumar, Shardul Thakur and visiting spinner Kuldeep Yadav.

Earlier in the game, Indian openers Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill clubbed sparkling half-centuries in their 143-run stand, before Sanju Samson and skipper Pandya charged up the innings further with electric knocks.

Both India and West Indies will now engage in a fierce five-game T20I battle, set to be played between August 3 and August 13 in West Indies and USA.
