The Hundred 2023 Men got off to a thrilling start with Trent Rockets beating Southern Brave in the tournament opener on Tuesday by 6 runs. The Rockets managed 133 courtesy of Sam Hain's whirlwind knock of 63 as bowlers Daniel Sams, Imad Wasim, and Lewis Gregory halted Brave's march towards victory, claiming eight wickets between them.

The highlight for many was Hain's knock, which turned the fortunes for Trents, where the Warwickshire batter slammed six fours and two sixes.

Hain's first six of the innings came on the 63rd delivery, where the batter pulled out the scoop shot from his arsenal, and took Craig Overton apart.  Later, Hain also played a reverse scoop against Tymal Mills, which went for a boundary over third man.

The 28-year-old's innings came to a screeching end trying to steal a single off Chris Jordan.

Hain's will next be in action on Saturday when Trent takes on Birmingham Phoenix at Edgbaston.

Hain has a reputation for being a hard-hitting middle-order batter, having played for Australia and England Under 19 teams, apart from playing for Brisbane Heat, Manchester Originals, and Welsh Fire.

The Hong Kong-born in 117 T20s amassed 3,536 runs with one century and 26 fifties, at an impressive average of 41.11.
