WI vs IND: '350 Was A Gettable Total On That Wicket' - Shai Hope

West Indies ODI skipper Shai Hope lamented his teams' inconsistency after the former two-time winners suffered a crushing 200-run defeat to India in the series-decider in Port of Spain on Wednesday.

Chasing a demanding total of 351, the West Indies never looked like getting anywhere close to it as their batting-unit fell like a heap of cards to the seam-bowling duo of Mukesh Kumar and Shardul Thakur.

Speaking to the broadcaster in the post-match presentation, Hope admitted that he felt that 351 was a gettable total although he did fell that his pacers erred in their lengths during the initial phase of the Indian innings.

"Hindsight is the best sight as I keep saying. We saw how the wicket was in the back end and I thought we restricted them well enough. We can look back and change many things but it is what it is. We didn't give them a challenge with the ball at the start," said Shai Hope as quoted by CricBuzz.

"(Target of) 350 (352) was a gettable total on that wicket but today wasn't our day. Anytime you play, you gotta believe you can win. I keep stressing on that same thing - the consistency in attitude and the key is to get the guys together and turn some of these losses into wins. Some days we wake up and play like the best team in the world and some days we just get steamrolled," he added.

Earlier, half-centuries from Ishan Kishan (77 off 64), Shubman Gill (85 off 92), Sanju Samson (51 off 41) and stand-in skipper Hardik Pandya (70* off 52) powered the Men in Blue to 351/5 in 50 overs.

The action will now move to the T20I leg, with the first of 5 matches set to take place at the same venue on August 03.
