Travis Head took England by storm on Saturday afternoon during the first Ashes Test in Perth after he was asked to open the innings for Australia to avoid making the chase tricky.
While opening the batting in Usman Khawaja's absence, Head went all guns blazing to lead the Aussies chase down 205 and scored 123 from just 83 balls. In his knock on, he managed to score 16 fours and four sixes and finished with a strike rate of 148.19.
Australia ended up completing the run chase in only 28.2 overs and took the all-important lead in the five-match series. Here's how his Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) opening partner Abhishek Sharma reacted to his mayhem with the bat.
Abhishek Sharma praises Head's century
Following the end of day's play, India's T20I opener and world number 1 batter in the format, Abhishek Sharma took to his Instagram story and praised his fellow SRH southpaw for his effortless batting.
"When Trav gets going, it looks effortless. A top-class ton and a proper statement," Abhishek wrote.
Recently both left-handed batters were retained by their Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise for the upcoming season of 2026, where they will open the batting for the Orange Army.
Abhishek has previously also spoken highly of the conversations and the bond between the two batters, who share a similar approach while opening for their teams. With Khawaja's injury, it will be interesting to see whether Head continues to bat as an opener in the series or the former regains his 100% fitness before the next Test.
