'He Asked For More...' PCB Director Hafeez Reveals Imad Wasim's Plans Before Retirement

A few of the former cricketers of Pakistan were questioning the selection committee for not picking up Imad Wasim for the World Cup 2023, and Mohammad Hafeez was one of them. After the poor performance in India, the whole support staff was sacked and Mohammad Hafeez was appointed as the director of Pakistan's men's team.

During today's press conference, Mohammad Hafeez was asked about Imad Wasim and Mohammad Amir to which he replied that they are not keen on representing Pakistan again and have rejected Hafeez's proposal of playing domestic cricket again.

Imad was one of the consistent members of the squad and used to contribute with both the bat and the ball. With his left-arm spin bowling, he would have ended the middle overs curse, which was ruling over the Pakistan team as they were struggling to take wickets in the middle overs during the World Cup.

The southpaw is a T20 specialist and would have been a force for Pakistan's team in the upcoming T20 World Cup, but Imad has announced his retirement from international cricket and is happy playing in the leagues all around the world.

Here's what Mohammad Hafeez said about Imad Wasim

"Imad Wasim had not signed the central contract so I phoned him, and he asked for more time. After two days, he called me and said he is not available for New Zealand T20I series even tho I told him he was in our plans. And then he announced his retirement after some more time."

Hafeez shared that he personally called Imad Wasim, telling him that he has plans to represent the Pakistan team in the future but will have to play domestic cricket. Imad Wasim, in return asked for some time but announced his retirement two days later.
