The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) franchise will be squaring off with their Chennai Super Kings (CSK) counterparts in match number 52 of the IPL 2025 season on Saturday, May 3. Ahead of the highly-awaited showdown, RCB’s top-order batter Devdutt Padikkal reflected his team’s mindset, stating that they will not treat the struggling MS Dhoni-led unit any differently.

The CSK franchise, under the leadership of MS Dhoni, is currently ranked at the bottom of the IPL 2025 points table with just two wins from 10 matches.

Devdutt Padikkal vows RCB’s firm approach against CSK

Speaking before the match, RCB top-order batter Devdutt Padikkal said that his team will not be treating MS Dhoni’s CSK squadron any differently even though the latter is undergoing one of their worst IPL seasons in memory.

Padikkal also added that RCB players have done their preparations and are “completely focused” on their impending challenge. He said:

“We have played some really good cricket throughout the season, and there is no need to treat any game any differently. So, as long as we have done our preparations well and are completely focused on the game, I think we should be fine.”

Devdutt Padikkal has himself contributed to his team’s success by scoring 230 runs from nine innings at a strike rate of over 150. The cricketer has whacked two half-centuries this season, both in match-winning causes for the RCB.

While CSK is ranked at the bottom of the IPL 2025 points table, RCB is placed third on the 10-team standings under the leadership of new captain Rajat Patidar. Another win at this stage of the tournament might well confirm RCB’s place in the playoffs.
