After the September 25 clash in the Asia Cup 2025, Pakistan beat Bangladesh to secure their ticket to the final against India on September 28. The clash was a riveting one.
While Bangladesh looked strong at the beginning as they kept tumbling Pakistan's wickets at regular intervals, the Men in Green too had the bowlers up their sleeve to destroy Bangladesh. Pakistan's skipper Salman Ali Agha, seemed confident and positive after the 11-run win.
Agha lauds teamwork against Bangladesh
Speaking to reporters after the match, Salman shared that the team played really well on the ground. However, he acknowledged that there are still some improvements needed, while throwing special light on Shaheen Afridi.
"If you win these kinds of games, then we must be a special team. Everyone played really well. There is still some improvement needed in our batting, but we will work on that. Shaheen is a special player—he always does what the team needs from him, and I am very happy for him," Agha said.
Notably, Shaheen Afridi took three wickets while conceding only 17 runs in his 4-over quota. Haris Rauf, too, was a notable bowler who picked up three wickets, though he gave away 33 runs in the process.
Speaking further, Salman said that though they were a few runs short of the target they wanted to give Bangladesh, the Pakistan bowlers bowled really well to make up for it.
"We were probably 15 runs short, but the way we bowled up front helped us create pressure. If you bowl like this with the new ball, more often than not you will win games," Agha added.
Salman on their fielding standards
Speaking about their doubtable fielding standards, Salman revealed that they have been putting in the extra work while sharing a detailed insight into coach Mike Hesson's strict command.
"We have also been fielding well. Shane has been working hard with us, and we’ve been having extra sessions. Mike Hesson said, “If you can’t field, you won’t be in the team.” We are good enough to beat anyone, and we’ll come back on Sunday and try to do that," Agha concluded.
As Pakistan look forward to the final, it is to be noted that India will play their last match against Sri Lanka on September 26 before getting a one-day rest to meet the Men in Green for the Asia Cup 2025 final.
