The Pakistan vs Bangladesh Asia Cup 2025 Super 4 clash had all the makings of a thriller, especially in the first 15 overs of Bangladesh’s chase. However, once Pakistan struck back with consecutive wickets, the momentum shifted completely in their favour.
Yet, true to their reputation for comical blunders, Pakistan managed to add another unforgettable moment to their tally, a bizarre missed run-out chance that left fans both laughing and frustrated.
The trademark Pakistan blunder is back!
Bangladesh, chasing a modest target of 136, had Saif Hassan and Parvez Hossain Emon at the crease during Shaheen Afridi’s fiery spell. Afridi bowled a short outswinger to Saif, who cut it towards third man. Just as it looked destined for the boundary, Saim Ayub pulled off a stunning dive to stop it.
Emon, assuming the ball would race away, sprinted down the pitch, only to find Saif rooted at the striker’s end. Suddenly, both batters were stranded at the same end, leaving the non-striker’s end completely empty.
The blunder after Ayub's efforts
Saim Ayub quickly recovered and fired a throw at the bowler’s end, but he missed. Fakhar Zaman collected the ball, only to fumble under pressure and completely lose sight of the non-striker’s stumps. In the scramble, Hussain Talat and Mohammad Nawaz collided as they tried to collect Fakhar’s throw, leaving the wicket unattended.

Incredibly, Emon made it back safely, turning what should have been a certain run-out into one of Pakistan’s most comical fielding errors in recent memory.
Despite the blunder, Pakistan’s bowlers held their nerve. Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf picked up three wickets each, while Saim Ayub redeemed himself with two vital strikes despite disappointing with the bat. Bangladesh eventually folded 11 runs short, handing Pakistan a hard-fought victory and a place in the Asia Cup 2025 final against India.
