'We Have A Great...': Rohit Sharma's Comments From 2021 Re-Surface Before WC 2024

The ninth edition of the T20 World Cup is around the corner and the inaugural champions from 2007, India, will yet again try to replicate what they did in South Africa. Captain Rohit Sharma's comments from the 2021 World Cup have resurfaced, as they'll try to do what he said 3 years ago.

On Thursday, Star Sports tweeted a video compiling the comments made by Indian players in the previous editions and this is what Rohit Sharma, the last player from the 2007 World Cup squad left, had to say,

"We won it in 2007, the inaugural World Cup and since then we've made it [deep in the tournament] but we haven't won it. I think we have a great chance here to come across and be the champions."

Two editions have passed since the Indian skipper said it, yet the glory still awaits for India as the ICC trophy drought reaches 11 years this summer. In the last two T20 World Cups, India ended their tournaments in the group stage and in the semi-finals in UAE and Australia, respectively.

They will be facing Bangladesh on June 1 for a warm-up game before their tournament opener against Ireland on the 5th. Both games will be played in New York.
