Former Indian skipper, MS Dhoni is among the sharpest cricketers to have played the sport. While Dhoni is renowned for his magic on the field, he is also equally famous for his wit.

MS Dhoni's reply stole the show

Another instance of Dhoni’s humour was on display during the trailer launch of his first film production, "Let’s Get Married" (LGM).

During the event, Dhoni jovially invited Tamil actor, Yogi Babu to become a part of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) franchise in the upcoming season.

The 37-year-old actor had expressed interest in joining the CSK team, to which Dhoni humorously replied, acknowledging the recent retirement of Ambati Rayudu, which leaves a vacant position in the team.

However, he quipped that the actor’s busy schedule in films might pose a challenge and also highlighted the aggressive nature of the bowlers, who specifically aim to cause injuries.

Rayudu (Ambati) is retired. So, we do have a place for you in CSK. I'll speak to the management. But, you are so busy in films. I'll tell you, you have to play consistently. They bowl very fast and they bowl to injure you only,” said Dhoni.

A linchpin of CSK, Dhoni's leadership skills have steered the team to secure five championship titles in the Indian Premier League (IPL), with their most recent title win coming in IPL 2023.

The CSK captain also discussed his deep bond with the state of Tamil Nadu, attributing it as his second home since his affiliation with the franchise began. In his view, his inaugural film production in Tamil is merely a fulfillment of destiny.

“When Sakshi came up with the idea and explained everything, I said we are making it in Tamil and its destiny, which I believe in. My Test debut happened in Chennai, my highest Test score is in Chennai, when it comes to cricket a lot of things happened which I am proud of, it happened in Chennai. Not to forget, once IPL started in 2008, I was adopted by Tamil Nadu,” added the seasoned stumper.

Dhoni also revealed how Chennai holds a significant place in his cricket career several important milestones of his life are associated with the city.
