'We Changed The Method' - Faf Du Plessis Opens Up On RCB's Winning Spree After PBKS Win

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) registered a commanding 60-run victory over Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Match 58 of the IPL 2024 at Dharamsala.

After being put into bat, RCB amassed a colossal 241/7, courtesy of stellar performances from Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar, and Cameron Green.

Despite a strong fightback led by Rilee Rossouw for Punjab Kings, they were eventually bowled out for 181 in 17 overs.

Faf du Plessis hails RCB's dominant win over PBKS

In the post-match presentation, RCB skipper Faf du Plessis acknowledged the importance of posting a huge total after losing the toss.

"Yeah, it was a really good game. After losing the toss and to get to 240 was a very good effort," said Du Plessis

Du Plessis further highlighted the team's focus on avoiding repeated mistakes and adopting a new strategy to take wickets during the powerplay, which ultimately proved successful.

"We thought we were making the same mistakes again and again. With the ball, we didn’t get enough wickets in the powerplay. We thought on how we could get wickets in the powerplay. We changed the method and it has worked very well for us," added the South African.




Reflecting on the team's overall performance, du Plessis stated the importance of form and contribution from all players.

"I have been playing the game for a long time. You need the form to find your feet in the competition. We had a few guys who were looking for some runs and we had a few guys who were looking for wickets. But everyone has chipped in with the bat in hand and in the bowling, it has been the same," he remarked.

The RCB captain urged his team to maintain their style of play and stay focused.

"I just keep saying it that we just have to keep playing with the style that we want to play. It’s really important for us to focus on ourselves. It is a bit of a cliché but it’s important to stay focused and if we can do that, we can prove that we are a really good team," concluded Du Plessis.

With this win, RCB have bolstered their position in the IPL 2024 points table and are alive in the competition, while PBKS have been left licking their wounds as they have been eliminated from the tournament.
