KL Rahul Expresses Himself On Camera After The Champions Trophy Title

KL Rahul, who played a brilliant 34* knock off 33 deliveries against New Zealand at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium with the help of one boundary and a six, powered India to 254 by the end of the 49th over as the Men in Blue lifted their third Champions Trophy title, after winning by four wickets and six deliveries to spare.

After the game, Rahul, who supported Shreyas Iyer's 48 and skipper Rohit Sharma's 76, expressed that he was extremely nervous out in the middle and didn't shy away from revealing his true feelings during the tense chase.

"I don't think I can say this on camera, but I was s****ing myself at the end. But we still had a couple of batters to come, so I was confident that we could get over the line,"

As for the game, India were going well as they required 61 from the last 10 overs with six wickets in hand. Rahul, who was batting at 2* at that time, continued to remain unbeaten till the end, as India lost two more wickets by the end of the innings but completed the chase easily.

"But in moments like this and big games, it's more about holding your composure, which we all know about. It's not easy, but I'm happy to win this and happy to get over the line this time. I think I've batted in times like this in three out of the five games. And one of the games I didn't get to bat at all against Pakistan,"

This high-profile game ended up in India's favour courtesy of the composure that Rahul displayed out in the center, as he then elaborated on what was going through his mind during that knock. Additionally, he expressed that he has batted in three out of five games in these situations, which proved to be the crucial factor in this encounter.

"The game's given me good time in the middle and good time to prepare for a big moment like this. It's hard to put in words, but it's just pure skill and the way we've all played our cricket growing up. We've had to face a lot of challenges. We've had to face pressure from the time we held the bat and from the time we decided to be professional cricketers."

Additionally, Rahul expressed that he has been preparing for these big moments and playing under pressure is something that they have mastered in this form of the game.

Indian Bowlers Restricted New Zealand To 251

After again losing the toss, India were asked to bowl first, as New Zealand opted to bat first in Dubai. Daryl Mitchell's 63 and Michael Bracewell's 53* were the stars of the show as they helped New Zealand reach 251 for seven after the end of their 50 overs.

While Indian spinners Varun Chakravarthy and Kuldeep Yadav picked two wickets apiece. In reply, the Indian side chased the score with six wickets and six balls remaining, with Rohit Sharma and Iyer playing the defining knocks, helping India lift the Champions Trophy 2025 title, which is also their second successive ICC trophy win.
