Heading into Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) spent a bank load of money to acquire the services of Australian World Cup-winning captain Patrick Cummins, whom they eventually named as team captain, replacing Aiden Markram.

Cummins comes into the IPL after winning almost every prized International Cricket Council (ICC) title last year, which includes the World Test Championship (WTC), which puts heavy baggage on the former Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) skipper.

Speaking on the Hyderabad-based club's Instagram page, Cummins, who had his first SRH training session, stated how he wants the team to have an aggressive start to the season and that the franchise has a good blend of youth and experience in the quad to achieve the end goal.

"I mean, the plans are you know, I work really closely with the guys that I don't know too well. Get to know them. Get to know what they need from me out in the middle. And then, you know, work with coaches and what they want to see out of me as well as a player. So, a bit of planning to go and then just wanna get off to a really good start. T20s are hard. Kolkata's a good team, but I think just wanna see a really aggressive, start to the season," Cummins said.

The 30-year-old further explained that the franchise has a good blend of youth and experience in the squad to achieve the end goal, with the likes of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Markram, Abhishek Sharma, and Umran Malik.

SRH kicks off their campaign against Cummins' former IPL side KKR on March 23 at Kolkata.
