Legendary Indian fast bowler Madan Lal believes Virat Kohli should reverse his retirement and make a comeback to Test cricket. Renowned for his excellent batsmanship and aggressive captaincy, Kohli sent shockwaves among the cricket fraternity when he bid adieu to Test cricket amid the IPL 2025.

Madan Lal Feels Virat Kohli Should Come Out Of Test Retirement

Virat Kohli, who made his Test debut 14 years ago, made an instant impact, emerging as one of the rare shining lights for India in an otherwise forgettable tour of Australia in 2011-12. He never looked back after that, leading the team by example and etching his name in the cricketing folklore as one of India's greatest Test captains.

Madan Lal acknowledged Virat Kohli's passion for Test cricket, expressing his wish to see him back in the whites for India. The 1983 World Cup winner, famous for his iconic dismissal of Sir Viv Richards in the final, argued that nobody would judge him if he reverses his Test retirement decision, considering how he revolutionised the Indian Test side during his captaincy stint.

"Virat Kohli's passion for Indian cricket was unmatched. It's my wish that he should come back to Test cricket after retirement. There's nothing wrong with returning. If not in this series, he should make a comeback in the next," Madan Lal was quoted as saying by TOI

After Kohli's retirement, India replaced him with their newly appointed captain, Shubman Gill, at number four.

Kohli played 123 Test matches for India, establishing himself as one of the most successful batters and captains in the format. He amassed 9230 runs across 210 innings, recording a healthy average of 46.85.

He went on to hammer 30 hundreds and 31 fifties, placing himself among the greats that Indian cricket has ever seen.
