Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly expressed his belief that if India is tasked with a target of 360 or 370 runs in the fourth innings of the ongoing ICC World Test Championship (WTC) final, they have the potential to successfully chase it down with the presence of Virat Kohli in their lineup. Ganguly hailed Kohli as the best chaser in the world and asserted that India would remain competitive even when faced with a substantial target in the final innings.
In the first innings, Kohli fell cheaply, managing only 14 runs. Kohli succumbed to an edge off Mitchell Starc's delivery, resulting in a catch for Steve Smith at slips.
During an interview on Star Sports, Ganguly remarked that if India were confronted with a target of 360 or 370, the outcome of the match could swing either way in the last two days.
"If India has to chase 360 or 370, then India will be in the game. They have Virat Kohli, the best chaser in the world, and many other skilled players. So, anything can happen in the last two days," Sourav Ganguly told Star Sports.
Australia currently hold a lead of 443 runs in the ongoing WTC final as they have declared their innings before Tea on Day 4. Indian batters will need to demonstrate exceptional skill and determination to successfully pursue whatever target the Australian team sets in the fourth innings, particularly on a pitch that offers variable bounce.
