Two India Stars Make The Cut As Kane Williamson Namedrops The New 'Fab Four'

The upcoming India-England series on June 20 will start a new WTC cycle and also a transition, where the veterans have made way for the youngsters and create a name for themselves.

The upcoming WTC cycle will be without Virat Kohli, who is now only active in ODIs. Similarly, the other three members of the Fab 4 - Kane Williamson, Joe Root, and Steve Smith are also at the business end of their careers. 

Williamson Predicts New 'Fab Four'

The 'Fab Four' ruled cricket across formats for years, and now the debate has shifted to finding the next set of Fab Four from the current set of cricketers. Meanwhile, the former New Zealand captain also jumped into the discussion and revealed his picks for the new Fab Four. 

Kane opined that Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Rachin Ravindra, and Harry Brook will form the new fab 4.

“The players that come to mind in terms of multi-format are: Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Rachin Ravindra, Harry Brook. And also Cam Green. Those are all outstanding players and have shown fantastic moments in all formats. All young and their games are just growing,” said Williamson, speaking to The Cricket.

Kane Williamson Talks About The Importance Of Test Cricket

While praising, Gill, Ravindra, Brook, and Jaiswal, Kane Williamson also highlighted the importance of Test cricket.

“I feel personally grateful that I was brought up in that red-ball era. It’s still there, but I mean the T20 format is so prominent now, where the volume that you play is so high. So the opportunity to bat long, but also the opportunity to really go through those different problem-solving elements in the game," he added.

Talking about the four players namedropped by Williamson, Jaiswal is doing well for India in all three formats and is a regular in the team. Further, Shubman Gill has been appointed new Test captain for India. Harry Brook has also been handed the leadership duty and captains England in white-ball formats.  On the other hand, Rachin Ravindra is shining bright in Test cricket and also ODIs.
