Former Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh inaugurated the Yuvraj Singh Centres of Excellence and Merlin Group’s High-performance Centre at Rajarhat in Kolkata. This venture aims to provide state-of-the-art facilities and coaching for young cricket aspirants looking to make a mark in the field of sports.

Speaking exclusively to India Today during the inauguration event, Yuvraj Singh expressed his vision for the new venture. He emphasized the importance of creating top-notch infrastructure, stating,

"I want to create an infrastructure so that they don’t have to go outside the excellence center. If you provide them with good facilities, they will perform well."

With 60-70% of the facilities already in place, Yuvraj Singh is actively involved in monitoring the remaining processes.

When asked about the key to mental toughness for young sportspersons, Yuvraj highlighted the need for dedication and hard work, stating,

"For mental toughness, you need to work out for 5–6 hours a day if you want to represent your state or country. Mental toughness comes from hard work."

Reflecting on India's performance in ICC tournaments, Yuvraj Singh pointed out a potential gap in the mental attitude towards winning crucial games. He shared,

"For me, In my opinion, there is a lack of mental preparation for winning games. If 11 people think that we have to win, then only we can win."

When asked about potential picks for the upcoming T20 World Cup, Yuvraj Singh emphasized the need for a balanced team with a mix of youth and experience. He praised youngsters like Shubman Gill and Ruturaj Gaikwad, highlighting the significance of fearlessness in T20Is.

However, he acknowledged the selector's role in making decisions about team composition.

Regarding Sourav Ganguly's role as an administrator, Yuvraj acknowledged Ganguly's success as a captain but highlighted the differences between being a cricketer and an administrator.

Looking ahead, Yuvraj Singh expressed his interest in mentoring and full-time coaching in the future. He mentioned, "Mentoring is what I like the most," and expressed confidence in contributing as a mentor, particularly with his experience guiding state players.
