Former Indian Opener Aakash Chopra recently opined about the Kiwi all-Rounder Rachin Ravindra’s batting position for Chennai Super Kings. 

The CSK camp has suffered a huge blow ahead of IPL 2024 as their leading run scorer and opening batter Devon Conway has been ruled out of the tournament's first leg. 

Conway’s absence has left the CSK team in jeopardy, as the team management is promptly looking for his replacement. 

However, multiple reports suggest that the young New Zealand opening batsman Rachin Ravindra might open the innings for CSK and will be given the handed-over the responsibility along with Ruturaj Gaikwad. 


Aakash Chopra Analyzes Rachin Ravindra's Batting Position for CSK in IPL 2024

In a recent video on his YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra analysed Rachin’s recent performances in the T20 format after his batting prowess in the longer formats. Chopra believes Rachin currently stands tall with the best form of his life and can be a good replacement for Devon Conway as the opening batter.

"I still feel this team will be fine because they do something and find someone. Here they had already kept an amazing player in the form of Rachin Ravindra as his (Conway's) backup. He had a very good World Cup and he scored runs in Tests also recently. He is in the form of his life," Aakash Chopra said.

Chopra believes under the leadership of MS Dhoni, Rachin Ravindra has the golden opportunity to flourish in the T20 format for Chennai Super Kings. He also highlighted that being a left-handed batter and spinner, Rachin can become one of the most valuable players in the 17th season of the IPL. 

"However, let's be fair, his T20 numbers are not good. T20 numbers not being good and playing for CSK is a good thing. So you might see Rachin Ravindra's T20 avatar now. Left-handed opener and left-arm spinner, he has all the ingredients to become the most valuable player,” he further added.

The New Zealand Opening batter Devon Conway has been a gem for CSK and has showcased stellar performances for the team in the 2 seasons he has played. Conway registered 924 runs in 23 innings at a batting average of 46.12 with a whopping strike rate of 141. 28. 

The defending champions Chennai Super Kings will play the first match of the IPL 2024 tournament against the Royal Challengers Bangalore on 22 March in Chennai.
