India and England are currently battling it out at Lord's, and it is turning out to be another interesting contest after India levelled the series at Edgbaston. India lost the first Test, and there were expectations that the young team led by Shubman Gill will crumble under pressure. However, they bounced back sharply in the second match and are competing to take the lead in the series now.

It has brought back hopes of a bright future, and it seems that India are moving swiftly to the new era in the longest format. On the batting front, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have retired, while the likes of Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane are no longer part of the scheme of things.

Rahane Hopes To Play Test Cricket Again

However, both Pujara and Rahane have not retired, and the Mumbai batter has now once again made it clear that he still wants to play Test cricket. In a chat with SkySports, Ajinkya Rahane said that he has no intentions of retiring soon. He added that he wants to continue playing Test cricket and is still passionate about playing the game.

Rahane also revealed that he is in England for just few days and is trying his best to stay fit with domestic season coming up.

"Not at all. First of all, it is good to be here. I still want to play Test cricket and I am really passionate about playing Test cricket. At this moment, I am enjoying my cricket, so, just here for few days. I carried my trainers, my training clothes, so that I can keep myself fit. Our domestic season is starting so the preparation has just begin."

Thus, Ajinkya Rahane seems to be in no mood to give up even though he last played for the country in 2023. He has been doing decently for Mumbai in domestic cricket and would need big scores in the upcoming Ranji season to stage a comeback.
