Rishabh Pant in chat with Ben Duckett (Source:@StarSportsIndia/X.com)
India and England are in the middle of an intense Test match at Lord's currently. The series is levelled at 1-1, and so it is an important game for both sides, which has been evident in the approach.
England decided to bat first after winning the toss and decided to curb their attacking instincts, respecting the conditions on offer. Indian players, in return, tried to troll English batters by asking them to show their Bazball mindset. The home team though, batted cautiously and ended with a decent score of 387 in the first innings.
Now, India are also playing risk-free cricket, and even Rishabh Pant did not try anything extravagant in his knock of 74. As a result, when Pant and KL Rahul were batting in the middle, Ben Duckett decided to hit back at the Indian wicketkeeper. The conversation between the two was caught in the stump mic and it has been revealed through a post on Star Sports' official X handle.
Ben Duckett Tries To Poke Rishabh Pant With Cheeky Remark
Duckett started the chat with a sarcastic question, asking Pant whether he is batting for a draw. Rishabh Pant was surprised by Duckett's comments and asked the Englishman whether he was talking to him or someone else. Duckett though replied bluntly, and so the Indian wicketkeeper hit back with a remark that he is batting the same way as the English left-handed opener batted.
Duckett defended himself by adding that he did that on Day 1, signifying that the conditions were different during his time. The conversation ended there with a small comment from Pant, which could not be heard clearly in the stump mic. However, overall, it was quite an intense conversation between two aggressive batters and tensions surely seem to be rising at Lord's.
Ben Duckett - Just Batting For A Draw?
Rishabh Pant - Me?
Duckett - Yeah!
Pant - Same like you?
Duckett - Yeah. That's me playing on Day 1
Rishabh Pant eventually got run out at a stroke of the Lunch break, but did enough with KL Rahul to take India to a good position with the bat.
