One of India's up-and-coming talents, Abhimanyu Easwaran is in action in the ongoing Deodhar Trophy 2023 for East Zone, which has commenced today.  Easwaran, who leads Bengal in Ranji Trophy has been on the fringes of India's Test team after stockpiling runs in domestic cricket.

However, the recent West Indies snub has raised several questions about the top-order batter's future within the national side.

Speaking on the sidelines of the Deodhar Trophy 2023 in Puducherry, Easwaran to OneCricket in an exclusive interview revealed his thought process after being not selected for India's two-Test tour of the Caribbean.

The 27-year-old explained how hard work and consistency will help a player overcome adversities and that his dream of representing India will remain alive and kicking until he calls it a day.

Here's what Easwaran said

"I think you will have a lot of thoughts when you play for such a long time. I've been playing for such a long time, for 10 years now. I mean, there will be thoughts, there will be doubts that will arise in your cricketing career as a player. But I think that's part and parcel of the game."

"It is how you deal with it. And I think it's just about working hard every single day and making sure that you work towards the dream you had when you started the game. I think I always have this dream of playing for the country. So I think I still have that dream. And I will always have that dream till the time I'm playing cricket."

The Uttar Pradesh-born has been a prolific run-getter in First-Class cricket and for India 'A', of which he is the captain.

In 88 FC matches, Easwaran has amassed 6,567 runs with 22 centuries and 26 fifties, while in 78 List A and 27 T20s, the Bengal skipper has managed 4,104 runs combined.
