Ishan Kishan finally announced himself on the Test arena on Sunday, smashing his maiden red-ball fifty against West Indies in the ongoing second Test at Port of Spain. Kishan, playing only his second Test, scored a 34-ball 52* laced with four 4s and two sixes, helping India set a mammoth 365-run target for West Indies.

Kishan, who has been preferred over KS Bharat as designated keeper in the absence of Rishabh Pant, revealed how the latter helped him in National Cricket Academy (NCA) ahead of the two-Test tour.

In a video shared by BCCI, Kishan, who spent time with Pant in the NCA, revealed how his former Under-19 teammate advised him about the bat position.  Pant is currently under rehabilitation following his unfortunate accident last December, ruling him out of action.

Here's what Kishan said

"I was at NCA before coming here. I was practicing there and Rishabh was also there for his rehab. He just got few points for me; he asked me the bat position and everything. Because we have played together, so many matches, we are together since Under-19. So he knows how I play, what my mindset is. So he just helped me a little bit with my bat position and everything.

So otherwise I think I also wanted someone to tell me a few things about my batting and it was a great time for him to come and chat with me and I am really thankful for that,"

Interestingly, Kishan struck his maiden Test fifty with the bat, which has initials 'RP 17' on it in the front.
