BCB Director Hints At Shakib Al Hasan's Comeback: "He Will Be In Consideration"

In a significant development, one of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) directors, Iftekhar Rahman, opened up on Shakib Al Hasan's potential comeback to the national side. Renowned for his extraordinary all-round attributes, Shakib has already bid adieu to Tests and T20Is while remaining an active player in ODI cricket. 

Door Is Still Open For Shakib's International Return

On Monday, BCB director Iftekhar Rahman stated that Shakib Al Hasan would be in the radar of the national selectors, considering the value he brings as a complete package. 

As quoted by ESPNCricinfo, Rahman lauded Shakib for his all-round attributes while highlighting that the seasoned campaigner needs to get some game-time under his belt for international comeback. 

"Shakib will always be in the consideration of the selectors and the team management. He is an asset for any team. He is a world-class cricketer. He has just returned after correcting his bowling action so our team management will keep track of him. It is definitely not [the end of our association with Shakib]. He has only played a few matches after his suspension. Let him play a few more matches, I think then we can answer the question [of his return]," Rahman was quoted as saying by ESPNCricinfo. 

When Did Shakib Play His Last Match For Bangladesh?

A legendary figure in Bangladesh cricket, Shakib Al Hasan represented his country for the last time when the Tigers took on India in the Kanpur Test in September-October last year. He opted against returning to his homeland amid the ongoing political tensions in Bangladesh. 

Overall, he has featured in 71 Tests, 247 ODIs and 129 T20Is, amassing 14730 runs and scalping 712 wickets across all three formats of the game.
