Virat Kohli’s journey with Indian cricket is filled with resplendent milestones through his unwavering dedication. From his early days as a Delhi prodigy to ascending as a world-beating batting colossus, his evolution represents his unyielding pursuit towards excellence.

Even though Kohli has transcended beyond milestones to gain a massive cult-like following the world over, the cricketer is not immune to criticism and naysayers for his aggressive playing style. Thankfully for his own well-being, he has devised a way to keep himself going on the field.

Virat Kohli emphasises importance of self-belief

Virat Kohli recently revealed how he deals with outside opinions and judgements, saying that his confidence on his own abilities keeps him going. He added that he learned the importance of self-belief long ago and he always stays true to himself.

While speaking with the Indian Express, he said:

“I learnt the importance of self-belief and staying true to myself. People will always have opinions and judgments, but I have learned to trust my instincts and have confidence in my abilities. This self-belief has been the driving force behind all my achievements on the cricket field.”

The legendary batter further stated that his self-belief has helped him stay positive in his game, and he often draws inspiration from past performances. According to Kohli, every setback is an opportunity for individuals to come back stronger.

“This self-belief helps me stay positive and focused on improving my game… I draw inspiration from my past successes and learnings. Reflecting on the moments when I performed at my best and analysing the areas where I can improve from losses, helps me grow as a player. Every setback becomes an opportunity for me to come back stronger.”

While currently enjoying a much-needed break from the game, the former skipper will return to the fold for the upcoming ODI Asia Cup in Sri Lanka. The tournament, set to be played between August 30 and September 17, serves as Team India’s final dress rehearsal before the World Cup at home later this year.
