'Sehwag Didn't Get Any Respect In His Time...' - BAN Opener Launches Brutal Attack Amid Shakib Row

Virender Sehwag-Shakib Al Hasan's verbal feud has taken another turn as former Bangladeshi batter Imrul Kayes came to Shakib's defence and took a dig at the ex-Indian opener.

Notably, Sehwag heavily criticised Shakib for his early dismissal against South Africa and remarked that Hasan should have retired from T20Is right after the ICC World Cup 2023.

The ex-India opener also added that Shakib should try to play shots as per his standards and not copy Australian openers such as Adam Gilchrist and Matthew Hayden.

On June 14, Shakib replied to the criticism, where he cleverly replied, 'Who' when asked about his opinion on Sehwag's criticism by a journalist.

While Shakib indirectly, without mentioning Sehwag's name, made a remark on the matter, Imrul Kayes slammed Sehwag and stated that he has no respect in world cricket.

"Shakib didn't become Shakib-Al-Hasan in 1 or 2 days. He is the No. 1 ICC all-rounder, not once but for a long time, and across formats. A player like him needs to be treated with respect, which Virender Sehwag didn't get in his career. So, he probably knows nothing about respect or giving respect to others," Kayes was quoted as saying by several Bangladesh media outlets.

"This is not the first time he has said such things about Bangladesh or its cricketers. He did this once earlier as well when he said Bangladesh don't have the ability to pick 20 wickets in a Test match. I don't know what a legendary batter like him thinks before making such statements. Biggies like Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid would never pull down a player because they know how to respect other players," he added.

Shakib returned to form with the bat against Netherlands, where he scored an unbeaten 64 (46) and helped his side register a 25-run win over the Dutch.
