Ravi Shastri brought his inimitable humour to the fore and came up with a hilarious response when asked whether the former India coach would love to guide England out of the calamity endured at the ICC World Cup 2023.
With England's existing limited-overs head coach Mathew Mott falling under scrutiny after his team's disastrous campaign, there is a strong likelihood the Englishmen will enter the search for a new head of the support staff in the coming months.
A fan present inside the stadium for England's league stage encounter in Pune against the Netherlands on Wednesday (November 8) thus picked his moment perfectly when he entered the stand with a placard suggesting the Jos Buttler-led side needs an Indian coach going forward.
Shastri's Hilarious Response To England Coaching Query
As the placard was shown on the television feed, former England captain Eoin Morgan directed the word from this fan towards his fellow commentator Shastri and asked him whether he would be interested in another high-profile gig in the coaching capacity.
Shastri then came up with the funniest response to Morgan, triggering huge laughter inside the commentary box as well as on the world television feed for viewers watching the England-Netherlands counter at the MCA Stadium in Pune.
The former India head coach, who had a successful seven-year tenure with Men In Blue from 2014 to 2021, brought his Mumbaiya humour into play and told Morgan in Hindi: "Haan Humko Bulayo, Hum sabko Hindi sikhayega".
Shastri explained to Morgan in English: "What I am trying to say is 'I am more than ready, I'll teach everyone Hindi along with cricket'.". The comment sparked a wide grin on the face of Morgan, England's 2019 champions skipper, who had asked for Shastri's interest in the top job.
