Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra has cautioned the top-teams in the world against taking Afghanistan lightly in the upcoming World Cup following a comprehensive series win by the Asian nation in Bangladesh this past week.

Chopra's comment came on a day when Afghanistan racked up their highest ODI total away from home (331/7) in the second game of the three-match series to clinch their maiden series win against Bangladesh.

The victory was set-up by their opening duo of Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Najibullah Zadran, who racked up a record-stand in their sides' ODI history.

Gurbaz hammered a whirlwind 145 off 125 deliveries while Zadran too cashed in on pristine batting conditions to rack up a brilliant ton.

The duo added 256 runs for the 1st wicket, and while Afghanistan could only post 331 despite such a brilliant start thanks to a late collapse, the total proved to be more than enough against Bangladesh.

Taking to his Twitter account, Chopra lauded Afghanistan's performance while also sending warning signal to teams like India, Australia, England etc ahead of the upcoming World Cup.

"Afghanistan scored 331/9. Both openers scored centuries. And now, have reduced Bangladesh to 169/7. Wow. Rule out AFG at your own peril in the World Cup later this year," Chopra wrote on Twitter.

Defending 331, left-arm pacer Fazalhaq Farooqi and mystery spinner Mujeeb ur Rahman proved to be too hot to handle for Bangladesh batsmen.

The duo claimed 6 wickets between them, and Bangladesh eventually folded for 189 to hand an unassailable 2-0 lead to the visitors.
