Rohit Sharma after MI vs CSK [Source: @CricCrazyJohns/x.com]
Just when people started whispering that maybe Rohit Sharma’s best days were behind him, the Hitman walked in, dropped a banger of a knock and followed it up with a swag-loaded speech in the dressing room that had “leader vibes” written all over it.
On Sunday, under the Wankhede lights, Rohit rolled back the years and played a blinder as he scored 76 not out off 45 balls and guided Mumbai Indians (MI) to a thumping 9-wicket win over arch-rivals Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
Rohit Sharma Turned MI Dressing Room Into A Swag Fest After Destroying CSK
But that wasn’t all. The moment the game ended, what truly stole hearts was the man himself, dressed in his MI gear and glares giving a rousing speech in the dressing room like a boss.
No frills, no filters, just real talk. In the MI dressing room with his shades on and that cool cap, Rohit Sharma dropped a speech that summed up the spirit of a team that has bounced back from a rough start.
“Winning three back to back games is never easy. As a team we have been talking about a lot of things and to see that come into play is really special and not just in one game but over the last three. Let’s not take our foot off the pedal. Let’s be humble in our approach and ruthless when we get a chance to pin the opposition down. Very good effort from everyone,” said Rohit with the whole MI squad listening.
It was vintage Rohit: composed, fired up and in total control. The cap and glares only added to the aura. This wasn’t just about knock, it was about making a statement both with the bat and as an important part of the leadership group.
Walked In As Impact Sub, Walked Out As Game-Changer
Rohit wasn’t even in the starting XI. He came on as an Impact Substitute and impact he made. CSK had posted 177, not a mountain but definitely tricky. However, the Hitman made it look like a net session.
Every time he middled the ball, it stayed hit. He smashed 4 fours and 6 sixes and looked completely in his zone. His partnership with Suryakumar Yadav was absolute carnage – an unbeaten 114-run stand in just 9 overs. SKY went ballistic with a 68* off 30 but Rohit’s calm, commanding presence at the other end was vintage.
MI On The Charge
After winning just one of their first five games, Mumbai Indians were being written off left, right and centre. Now? They have won three on the bounce: DC, SRH, and now CSK. With 8 points from 8 games, they are sitting sixth on the table, and the momentum is clearly with them.
