On Monday, chief Selector, Ajit Agarkar announced India's squad for the upcoming Asia Cup 2023. The newly formed panel made some 'bold' calls, which included the selection of Tilak Varma.

KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer, who have been out of the Indian side due to their respective injuries, make their way into the squad. Barring that, there is no surprise selection for the Asia Cup.

Post the squad selection, Ajit Agarkar, alongside skipper Rohit Sharma attended the press-conference, and answered questions related to the India's probable World Cup squad, the all-rounder dilemma, and the exclusion of Yuzvendra Chahal from the Asia Cup team.

In the 2011 World Cup, which India won, there were a plethora of all-rounders included in the squad. From Yuvraj Singh to Suresh Raina, there were players in the top-6 who could roll their arms.

When asked about comparison between the 2011 squad and the current team, and the lack of all-rounders at the moment, Rohit had an hilarious answer.

Rohit Sharma's hilarious reply to a journalist

“That was the team of 2011, they had individuals like that. You have to make do with what you have. We are giving those performers chances. We cannot overnight create someone who can bowl. All these guys are batters and they can score runs, that is why the are in the team. But hopefully Sharma and Kohli can roll their arms over in the World Cup (laughs).”

The Asia Cup 2023 starts from August 30, with Pakistan taking on Nepal in the tournament opener. India kicks-off their campaign against arch-rivals, Pakistan on September 2 in Pallekele.
