During the ongoing Ireland series, Ruturaj Gaikwad, India's stand-in vice-captain, commended Rinku Singh for his exceptional performance with the bat in the second T20I against Ireland. Gaikwad underlined Rinku's prowess as a finisher and lauded his ability to gauge the opportune moments to launch an attack against the opposition.

In the match held in Dublin, Gaikwad emerged as the highest scorer with a notable 58 off 43 balls, contributing significantly to India's 33-run victory over Ireland. However, it was Rinku Singh's impactful 38 off 21 balls that earned him the Player of the Match award, as India set a competitive total of 185/5 after being put to bat first.

Gaikwad praised Rinku's maturity displayed during this year's IPL and emphasized a remarkable trait of Rinku's batting approach. He highlighted Rinku's patience and strategic assessment of the game's situation before adopting an aggressive stance. Gaikwad highlighted the significance of this quality for aspiring players, particularly those aspiring to be finishers. He emphasized the importance of taking time to settle in and then adapting to the situation.

"Rinku (Singh) has already become everyone's favourite after this year's IPL. He showed a lot of maturity while batting this year in the IPL. One of the standout things about Rinku is that he doesn't attack from ball one. He always gives himself time. Whatever the situation is, he always assesses the condition and then he goes on the attack mode,”  said Ruturaj Gaikwad in the post-match press conference of the second T20I.

Additionally, Gaikwad acknowledged that Singh has honed this skill well throughout the year, recognizing when to unleash his attacking prowess.

“I think this is a good thing to learn for all the upcoming players or people who want to be a finisher. It's always important that you take some time and then you can always cover up later. So, this year he has learned this skill well. He knows when to pull the trigger. He pulls the trigger at the right time. It was an important innings for him, as it was his debut. And I feel, this will help him a lot,"  added Gaikwad.

With two consecutive victories in the bag, India is setting its sights on a series clean sweep as they gear up to face Ireland in the third T20I scheduled for Wednesday.
