Rishabh Pant continues to make some giant strides since returning to India’s cricketing circle earlier this year. The dashing wicketkeeper-batter, who was involved in a near-fatal car accident back in December 2022, made his return to competitive cricket ahead of this year’s IPL 2024 season.

Demonstrating no comeback jitters, Pant also carried his form in the subsequent T20 World Cup 2024 in West Indies, where his explosive batting turned out to be one of the many reasons behind his team’s title victory. Quite recently, the near 27-year-old cracked a scintillating match-winning ton against Bangladesh on a turning Chennai surface.

Rishabh Pant’s unprecedented second coming for Indian cricket has earned him significant praise from across the border. A few days after legendary Pakistan's fast bowler Wasim Akram hailed the cricketer’s triumphant comeback, ex-spinner Danish Kaneria seems to have foreshadowed some great things for the dynamic Indian stumper in the future..

Danish Kaneria hails Indian team, singles out Pant

During an interview with IANS, outspoken Pakistan cricketer Danish Kaneria described Team India a ‘world-class’ bunch and praised the likes of Shubman Gill, Rishabh Pant and Ravichandran Ashwin for often coming up clutch in tense situations. He said:

“When you look at the current Indian team, everyone takes responsibility and performs when it is needed. Shubman Gill, Rishabh Pant, Ravichandran Ashwin – everyone contributes, which is why they are a world class team.”

Danish Kaneria singled out Rishabh Pant, and even predicted the Indian wicketkeeper-batter to lead his country at some point in the future. He added:

“Rishabh Pant can lead India in Tests in the future. He has that caliber. He is performing very well after his injury comeback, and being a wicketkeeper, he keeps himself engaged with the bowlers and fielders always. Indian cricket is going great guns.”

Rishabh Pant is currently engaged in India’s two-match home Test series against Bangladesh. In the first match played out in Chennai last week, the left-handed batter scored a swift match-winning 109 in the second innings. The second Test of the series will be played in Kanpur between September 27 and October 1.
