India had many match-winners during the famous Border-Gavaskar series in 2020-21, but none bigger than Ravi Shastri. He was the silent hero of the side and despite the team losing Virat Kohli and several other players, he kept the morale high and made sure that history was written at the Gabba, as India won the series 2-1.

The disheartening 36-All Out at Adelaide

Indian off-spinner, Ravichandran Ashwin revealed that a Karaoke night was organised by former head coach, Ravi Shastri after Team India's humiliating defeat in Adelaide in 2020. The Indian side were bundled out for a meagre 36 in the second innings and suffered one of the worst Test defeats in their history.

India defeated Australia in 2018-19 to clinch the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, and headed into the 2020 series with a lot of optimism. However, the Asian giants were brought on their knees by a ruthless Australian bowling attack. Despite taking a first-innings lead, the nightmare struck on the morning of Day 3, when the side got bundled out for their lowest Test score.

Worst, the then India captain, Kohli, flew back to India after the first Test match due to the birth of his daughter, Vamika. With all the negativity surrounding, Ravi Shastri decided to cheer up the Indian dressing room as he organized a Karaoke night.

"We were not thinking about a series win because we were just bowled out for 36. The mood in the dressing room was a bit own. Ravi Bhai organised a team dinner. He arranged for karaoke, he started singing. He sang old Hindi songs. Everybody joined in. We were in a bubble, Virat was also getting ready to return," Ashwin told Vimal Kumar in a YouTube interaction.

Ashwin gears up for upcoming BGT in Australia

The star India spinner will be in limelight as India tour Australia for yet another blockbuster series. This time, it will be a 5-match Test series and Ashwin will be one of the key players under the regime of new head coach, Gautam Gambhir.

The off-break bowler performed exceedingly well last time around in Australia, and Gambhir would expect the same this time around as Team India look to create history by inflicting series defeat on Australia three times in a row in their own backyard.
