While the seasoned speedster heaped a significant praise for visiting captain Rohit Sharma, he also unveiled a supposed Achillies heal for the legendary Indian opener.

Hazlewood all praise for Sharma, reveals AUS weapon

Australian fast bowler Josh Hazlewood was all praise for Indian captain and legendary opening batter Rohit Sharma. Recalling his past battles with Sharma, Hazlewood stated that the Indian opener handles fast bowling “unbelievably well” and no amount of pace or movement seems to faze him. The speedster added that he himself tends to find it difficult while bowling to Sharma.

"Rohit Sharma plays fast bowling Unbelievably well. The bounce doesn't seem to worry him, The movement doesn't seem to worry him. He's got all the time in the World. I find it quite tough to bowl him," Hazlewood said on Star Sports.

The 33-year-old paceman added that ace spinner Nathan Lyon has had some pretty “good success” against Rohit Sharma, especially on Australian surfaces. Hazlewood later claimed that the Australian team management might well consider bringing Lyon to bowl some early overs in a bid to trouble the Indian opener.

Compatible with Josh Hazlewood’s claims, legendary off-spinner Nathan Lyon has dismissed Rohit Sharma nine times throughout all their Test meetings since 2014. Moreover, Sharma has been averaging only 23 against Lyon.

The Indian captain is currently leading his team in their ongoing home Test series against Bangladesh. Even tough he accrued just 11 runs across both innings of the Chennai Test, Team India won the match by 280 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the series.

The second Test match is scheduled to be played at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur between September 27 and October 1.

Meanwhile, India’s blockbuster five-match tour of Australia will commence on November 22 with the opening Test at Perth’s Optus Stadium. The Indian team will head into the series as the current ‘Border-Gavaskar Trophy’ holders, having won the previous edition at home back in early 2023.
