In a significant development, the Indian squad for the Hong Kong Sixes 2025 has finally been announced, with former RCB star player Dinesh Karthik set to lead the side. The tournament will be held from November 6-9 in Hong Kong.
The tournament is played in a fast-paced format with six-a-side teams playing six overs per innings. This year 12 teams will play, divided into four groups. The top two teams from each group will move on to the quarter-finals, while the winners there progress to the semi-finals.
Teams that lose in the quarter-finals will compete in the Plate semi-finals, while the bottom teams from each group will play in the Bowl competition.
It is important to mention that India has won the tournament once in 2005. On the other hand, Pakistan, England, and South Africa each have five titles, while Sri Lanka have two trophies.

India will aim to make the most of their experienced squad as they participate in the much-awaited tournament. The team will feature Robin Uthappa, Stuart Binny, Abhimanyu Mithun, Bharat Chipli, Shahbaz Nadeem, and Priyank Panchal. It is important to note that initially, former off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin was also part of the squad, but he had to withdraw due to a knee injury.
Ashwin revealed that the injury occurred during his preparation for the BBL in Chennai, requiring several months of rest. His withdrawal means he will miss both the Hong Kong Sixes and the BBL.
India has been placed in Group C and will begin their campaign against Pakistan on November 7. They will play their second match against Kuwait on November 8.
