Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) head coach Andy Flower has identified potential successors to fill the void left by the retirement of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli from T20 International cricket post their T20 World Cup 2024 triumph.

Flower, emphasizing the need for a smooth transition, named Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Dhruv Jurel, Abhishek Sharma, and Riyan Parag as key contenders to bolster India's batting lineup.

In a recent interview, Flower expressed confidence in the capabilities of these young talents.

"If I put my IPL coaching hat on, then I'll have to keep a keen watch on the players," Flower told. “(Yashasvi) Jaiswal didn't play a single match in the T20 World Cup but he is an incredible option. Shubman Gill, by his standards, had a quiet IPL but he looks a very intelligent player. He plays in a similar way to Virat Kohli,”

Flower also lauded Abhishek Sharma's recent century and Dhruv Jurel's promising performances.

"I'm looking forward to Abhishek Sharma performing. I really like the look of Dhruv Jurel. Watching him in the Test series against England, he did brilliantly. Riyan Parag has the swagger that you need in international cricket," he added.

Additionally, Flower commended Riyan Parag for his confident demeanor on the field, essential for thriving in international cricket.

India's recent T20I series against Zimbabwe provided a platform for these emerging players to showcase their talent. Following an initial setback against Zimbabwe, where India suffered a defeat, they bounced back strongly in the subsequent match.

Abhishek Sharma's scintillating century off just 47 deliveries played a pivotal role in India's commanding 100-run victory over the hosts.
