Former Indian cricketer-turned-pundit Sanjay Manjrekar has heaped high praise on the young opening duo of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill following their record-equalling stand in the 4th T20I against the West Indies in Florida.

Chasing 17o to level the 5-match series, India got off to a brilliant start as young Jaiswal, and Gill hammered the Windies attack to all corners of the Lauderhill stadium to rack up the country's joint-highest opening stand of 165.

Jaiswal, featuring in just his 2nd T20I, showcased his full range, slaughtering the helpless West Indies attack to the tune of 84* off 51 deliveries with the help of 11 fours and three sixes.

The southpaw was brilliantly supported by Gill, who finally regained his form and dished out a masterclass in audacious strokeplay. The right-hander smashed three fours and five maximums to race his way to a 47-ball 77, and by the time Romario Shepherd dismissed him, the result had become a mere formality.

Taking to his Twitter account, Sanjay Manjrekar hailed the 'perfect T20 approach" from the young Indian openers.

"The young Ind batters don’t have to ‘adjust’ to T20s. They are naturals at it. Stay in the moment, see the ball hit the ball. No worrying about getting out, no long terms plans of getting a 50 or a 100. That’s perfect T20 approach! Well done Gill & Jaiswal", tweeted Manjrekar.

While Gill was dismissed for 77, Yashasvi ensured he stayed till the end, and along with Tilak Varma, took India past the finishing line.

With the series levelled two-all, India will take on the hosts in the decider in Florida tonight.
