The Boxing Day Test got underway on Friday, December 26, when Australia locked horns against England at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The Baggy Greens are without Pat Cummins and Steve Smith back at the helm of things after missing the 3rd Test.

Prior to the Boxing Day Test, Cricket Australia had confirmed that Cummins will miss the last two games to prioritize his workload as he is fresh off an injury setback. Further, there was no reason to push for Cummins inclusion as Australia have retained the urn and lead the series 3-0.

In the latest events, Pat has opened the lid on his exclusion and workload management. The right-arm seamer stated that he is has the T20 World Cup in sight, therefore cooling off his heels at this point of time.

"Feeling good, so got through Adelaide unscathed so pretty happy. As of a few weeks ago, was still coming back from a back injury so playing back-to-back Test matches was pretty high risk. Cool our heels for a little bit with T20 World Cup next month," Cummins told Channel 7 during the lunch break on the first day of the Boxing Day Test here.

Cummins confirm World Cup participation

Notably, before the Ashes, Australia head coach Andrew Mcdonald had doubted Cummins’ inclusion for Australia’s T20 World Cup campaign in February in India and Sri Lanka. However, the right-arm seamer has made a great progress and now with his participation in Adelaide Test, has delighted the management.

Further, in the latest conversation, Pat Cummins also confirmed that he eyes to feature in T20 World Cup. For the unversed, Cummins lead Australia in Tests and ODIs, but Mitchell Marsh captains the side in the shortest format of the match.
