Shami On His Weight Loss Journey
After the heartbreaking exit from the 2023 ODI World Cup, Mohammad Shami was a big miss from Team India’s squad. After a long gap, he made a comeback in the limited-over series against England where he struggled a bit with his rhythm. But in the last match against Bangladesh, Shami was seen in his prime mode and secured a fifer.
After that remarkable performance, Shami was seen catching up with former Indian player Navjot Singh Sidhu in an interview. As the former Indian player asked, “How did you lose five-six kg weight?”
“I have lost nine kg” Shami playfully corrected Sidhu.
Did Shami Give Up Biryani To Stay Fit?
Over the past 14 months, Mohammad Shami has battled multiple injuries, facing setback after setback. Following surgery after the 2023 ODI World Cup, he dedicated months at the NCA, working tirelessly on his fitness.
While interviewing the speedster, Navjot Singh Sidhu asked him did he left having the rice of the biriyani or not. In response, Shami reflected on his recovery journey.
“The most difficult thing is challenging oneself. When you are such a situation, I was at the NCA and my weight was 90kg. The best part is that I don't crave for tasty food, I don't have sweets. I stay away from a lot of things which one should not have.” he said.
“As far as biryani is concerned, once in a while, you can have that cheat meal. Since 2015, I only have one meal per day. I only do dinner, no breakfast or lunch. It is very difficult but once you get used to it then it's easy.” the pacer added.
While not having Jasprit Bumrah in the squad, Mohammad Shami is a huge strength in India’s pace unit. In the last match, Shami shined with his exceptional bowling brilliance. After securing the early blood while dismissing Soumya Sarkar and dominated the opponent with an outstanding fifer. As the Pakistan clash is on the way, Shami’s lethal pace will be crucial for the ‘Men In Blue’.
