Legendary cricketer Shakib Al Hasan has yet to decide whether to play in Bangladesh's upcoming India tour. The Tigers will face the home team in two Tests and three T20Is following a two-match Test tour of Pakistan. 

As he approaches the twilight of his career, the veteran all-rounder, Shakib Al Hasan, has made a bold decision to focus on short-term commitments to the national side, rather than engaging in long-term career planning. 


'Not planning beyond PAK series' - Shakib says before IND tour

During his conversation with Cricbuzz, Shakib clarified that he would only think about the India tour after playing the Pakistan series following the Major League Cricket and Global T20 league. 

“I don't have many plans. There are two T20 tournaments in front of me one is MLC and the other one is the Global T20 League in Canada and let me see where I stand after playing these two tournaments because I need to understand [how I feel],” Shakib said. 

“There is international cricket and there is a series against Pakistan, and I am planning till that point of time and not planning beyond that. Now I don't have time to plan for three-four years and so planning for three to six months is better," he added. 


Shakib's performance in T20 World Cup 2024

One of the finest all-rounders in modern-day game, Shakib had a poor T20 World Cup in the USA and Caribbean. Besides scoring 111 runs at a mediocre average of 18.50, the left-arm spinner could scalp only three wickets in seven outings. 

His abysmal performance was a significant reason behind Bangladesh's forgettable journey in the marquee event, where they suffered a super-eight elimination.
