Team India finds itself in a precarious position in the fourth Test of the five-match series against England at Old Trafford in Manchester. After batting first and cracking 358 runs in the first innings, Indian bowlers conceded a monumental 669-run total to hosts England to face a 311-run deficit at the halfway stage of the game.
India’s latest relapse after competitive outings in Birmingham and Lord’s is certainly not sitting well with Vikas Kohli, brother of former Indian captain and recently-retired Virat Kohli. Vikas recently took to social media and apparently trolled Shubman Gill’s captaincy amid India’s bowling struggles.
Vikas Kohli Brags About Virat’s Captaincy By Trolling Shubman
Vikas Kohli seemingly bragged about the Indian Test captaincy days of his brother Virat Kohli, shortly after a Shubman Gill-led Indian side conceded 669 runs to England at Old Trafford in Manchester. Without naming anyone, Vikas took to Threads and wrote that Indian bowlers effortlessly managed to take 20 wickets in Test matches up until just a few years ago, clearly referencing to the time when his brother was the national captain.
He wrote:
“Not long ago, we had a Test team where our bowlers used to take 20 wickets,” wrote Vikas On Threads.
Compatible to Vikas Kohli’s claims, Team India secured a historic Test series victory in Australia, and managed to record a few more memorable overseas wins in SENA nations like South Africa and England, all under Virat’s captaincy. Moreover, Kohli also led Team India to their first Test series win in Sri Lanka after a gap of 22 years, doing so during the 2015 tour of the island nation.
Shubman Gill’s India Totter Against England
The current Indian team, however, continues to battle for survival against England as the Old Trafford Test heads into its final day. After facing a deficit of 311 runs, India lost two quick wickets in the opening over without notching up a single run on the board.
Fortunately for the visitors, KL Rahul and captain Shubman Gill shared a fighting 188-run partnership for the third wicket to add some stability to the innings.
