Another Test match, and another Virat Kohli record shattered by India captain, Shubman Gill. Throughout the ongoing tour, Gill has been India's batting backbone, and under tough conditions in Manchester, the skipper of the side led from the front, and smacked his fourth century of the series.

He started with a classy 147 in the first Test at Headingley, Leeds, and continued the momentum with a double century and a century in the Edgbaston Test match. Despite a rare failure at Lord's, Gill was back to his best, as the India captain smashed his fourth century and surpassed his idol, Virat Kohli, in a massive century feat.

Gill becomes India captain with most centuries in away Test

With his fourth ton, Gill shattered Virat Kohli's record, and became the India captain with the most Test centuries in an away series. While Kohli had scored four centuries during the 2014-15 Australian tour, three of those came in as captain.

Meanwhile, Gill, who idolises Kohli, has surpassed his record, and has the chance of extending the distance, as there is one more Test match left in the series. Sunil Gavaskar, had also scored four centuries in a single series as captain, but that came at home against the West Indies. With this knock, Gill joined Gavaskar, and Bradman as the captains with "most test centuries" in a single series.

Other Kohli records Gill shattered

Shubman Gill also broke the other records held by former skipper Kohli. On Day 4 of the Manchester Test, Gill surpassed Kohli's 692-run tally during the 2014/15 Australian tour, to become the highest run-getter by an Indian on a single SENA tour.

He broke Virat Kohli’s record of scoring the most runs in a Test series by an India captain against England. The former captain had amassed 655 runs in the 2016-17 series, while Gill, now has over 700-runs.
