As per emerging reports, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is negotiating with the England and Wales Cricket Board to allow English players to participate in the IPL 2024 knockouts. 

As reported earlier, the English Board wants its core players back in time for the T20 World Cup scheduled next month in the Caribbean and the USA. The Three Lions are all set to play a bilateral series against Pakistan to prepare for the marquee event. 

Therefore, the ECB had earlier made it clear that the players who have been picked in the English squad for the World Cup would leave their respective IPL teams and join the national setup for the pre-World Cup assignments. 

Following the ECB's bold move, players like Jos Buttler and Phil Salt, whose teams are on the verge of knockout qualification in the ongoing IPL, were supposed not to participate in the all-important playoff fixtures. 

However, as reported by the Times Of India, the BCCI is in talks with its English counterpart to let the IPL franchises secure the services of their key players in the business end. 

If the ECB grants NOC to its players, it could mean that prominent names like Buttler, Salt, and Moeen Ali might not be available for the upcoming series against Pakistan.
