Former South African cricket icon Hashim Amla recently unveiled his choices for the three greatest batters of all time, and to the shock of many, Indian legend Sachin Tendulkar was not among them. Although most fans rank Tendulkar the greatest batter in the game's history, Amla selected three other names, with only one Indian.

Amla is currently in England playing for South Africa Champions in the World Championship of Legends. The 42-year-old is playing under the leadership of AB de Villiers and recently scored 15 runs off 18 balls against the West Indies Legends.

Hashim Amla Upsets Indian Fans By Ignoring Sachin Tendulkar

During the interview with Star Sports, Hashim Amla was asked to pick 3 best batters of all time for his hypothetical World XI. Ignoring ‘God of Cricket’ Sachin Tendulkar, Amla named Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, and Sir Vivian Richards as his favourite all-time best batters.

“There are so many over the years. Growing up my three favourite players were Brian Lara, Steve Waugh, and Jacques Kallis, also being from South Africa. But also maybe three other names: you’ve got Virat (Kohli) in recent times, AB de Villiers, and I’d say one more old one—Sir Vivian Richards," Amla said.

These names reflect a mix of modern brilliance and classic dominance, with Kohli and de Villiers being Amla’s former teammates and Richards being one of the most feared batters of his era.

Amla, who retired with 18,672 runs in 349 international matches, has always been known for being calm and composed and elegant in his batting. His word carries weight, but omitting Sachin Tendulkar, the record-breaking run-maker in Tests and ODIs, must have shocked many of his fans.

South Africa Edge Windies In Thrilling Bowl-Out

In a unique T20 spectacle, South Africa Champions bested West Indies Champions in a thrilling bowl-out after their WCL match ended in a tie at Edgbaston.

Legends Chris Gayle and AB de Villiers both failed with the bat, making 3 and 2 runs, respectively. Chasing 80 in an 11-over rain-curtailed game, the Proteas tied the score, courtesy JP Duminy's match-winning 25*.

The match was going into a bowl-out as South Africa struck twice, while the Windies were wide with all four attempts. JJ Smuts and Wayne Parnell wrapped up the 2-0 bowl-out victory, ending a rollercoaster encounter involving cricket legends.
